B&E/Vandalism Do’s and Don’ts

Vandalism often involves spray paint on walls, defacement of furnishings, or spreading noxious substances. It is one of the most difficult forms of damage to restore. Prompt action can often minimize the effect of vandalism or make restoration more successful.

DO…

  • hose down or wash egg damage from building exteriors as soon as possible
  • vacuum glass particles from the carpet and upholstery
  • save containers and spray cans which can reveal the composition of inks and pigments
  • save all wood chips and fragments from furniture, porcelain or art objects

DO NOT…

  • attempt to remove ink, paint or cosmetic stains; they can be permanently set if not handled properly

"I really appreciate the service I received from all the Okanagan Restoration team, from the Project Manager, along the line to the girls who cleaned up today. I was notified ahead of time when the workers were coming, either by the office or the person himself. I knew who was coming and what their job was. I was often asked for my opinion as the project progressed. When someone arrived for the first time, they would take the time to introduce themselves and remind me of their job. My biggest concern was my dogs, who have no traffic sense if they escaped from the yard. All the workers were careful to close the gate after they came in or left and I didn't have to worry about the dogs getting out. Actually, one day one of them preferred the company of one of the workers. When I called her to go for a walk, she was busy begging for pieces of his doughnut. Although the whole (double) septic back up was a nightmare, Okanagan Restoration did their best to make my life a little easier. I love the final result. Sincerely, "
